I am SO excited! I finally finished my very first quilt. There are definitely some things that I will do differently next time - like next time I will hopefully be in my own craft room instead of having to work out of my son's room...poor guy, but he was a really good sport about it. (For those that hadn't heard, we are in the process of selling our house, so all the rooms have been staged as bedrooms...including my craft room...sad day). But the quilt got finished nonetheless, it just took a little longer than it would have otherwise. Here's the beautiful quilt.
A few things that I learned making this quilt are: #1: I really dislike binding. :) I had too many times that I just started going through the motions and stopped paying attention and then realized I had sewn my binding to the back of the quilt (instead of to the other side of the binding...ahhh!) #2: Quilting is hard...but super fun at the same time. My son is already putting in his orders for all the quilts he wants me to make for him and his friends - I guess that means he thinks the quilt was a success. #3: When you're starting a new craft (or anything in life, really), there is no better asset to have than a friend who believes in you and can, in turn, give you confidence that you can do it. If you have someone to cheer you on and tell you how amazing you are (even if it's something she could whip up in her sleep without even trying) - to me that was the biggest help in getting this quilt put together. I'm pretty proud of the job I did, I learned things I could do better next time, and I had a lot of fun doing it. So we'll call this one a success. Feel free to follow me on Facebook:
